MERIBEL |
 |
For the coming season 2010/2011, the resort will open on Saturday, December 11th.
Situated in the heart of the 3 Valleys, Meribel is undoubtedly the most chic of all of the resorts. The hotels are built of stone and pine.
The village has been constructed and finished in traditional style to blend into the environment of the mountains. The wood and stone of the region are the only materials which have been used for the principle construction with the exception of the clay tiles on the sloping roofs.
Very well situated, Meribel offers an enviable view of the Glacier du Borgne.
The area of the Meribel valley gives you a certain amount of possibilities with over 1000 meters of vertical drop over varied pistes.
The Mont Vallon or the Roc de Fer is the dream departure of innumerable off-pistes with huge vertical drops but.... sh....... don't tell the whole World!
The other part is made up of 150km of pistes which are exposed North-South giving skiers sun all day!
If you enjoy walking and hiking, don't miss to visit the Tueda Natural Reserve that begins next to the centre of Mottaret.
Like Courchevel, Meribel relies on the other ski areas to make up the domain of the 3 Valleys (read about the history of the 3 Valleys), the largest ski resort in the World with 200 lifts, 330 pistes and over 600km of ski runs.
