WHO
ARE WE ? |
Patsy
Patsy Duncan is from Scotland and lives part of the
year in Aviemore, she has worked in the 3 Valleys for
8 years. She holds a full International licence and
also has the Equivelence which is necessary to work
in France. Her training was done with B.A.S.I and E.N.S.A.
Patsy started out racing and was a member of the British
Alpine Team. From there, she began her teaching career,
soon qualifying as a B.A.S.I trainer. She spent many
years working with people on B.A.S.I courses examining
and training candidates.
She spent a season in Austria teaching in the Tirol.
During that time she followed the European Freestyle
circuit and gained more valuable experience.
Patsy was a member of the British Demonstration Team
on the World recognised Interski organisation to Japan,
Austria and Italy. Annually, she demonstrated at Earls
Court for the London Ski Show which was an invaluable
experience and an addition to her C.V.
The speed ski-ing World championships, only ever to
be held once, in Scotland saw her in first place.
Now Patsy enjoys off-piste and exploring new terrain.
She also recently added snowboarding to her list.
Patsy loves teaching at all levels and to meet new faces
so she can pass on her teaching skills to others.
Summer is spent on the dry slope in Scotland and on
the Glacier in Tignes.
Bastien
Bastien is from Marseille in the South of France and
has worked in the 3 Valleys for the past 9 years. He
is a former racer and, as a teenager, his training was
done in the Southern Alps.
Bastien decided to become a ski instructor and completed
his training with E.N.S.A and now holds a full International
licence.
Bastien speaks English fluently, but he is always keen
to progress more.
His passion is off-piste and he adores nothing more
than to take off on a sunny day with a new snow fall,
accompanied by his clients into the hidden areas which
are often unknown to holiday makers.
Bastien's other talent is teaching children. He has
the art of captivating their interest and makes his
lessons fun. All children adore him which leads to repeat
requests year after year.
Bastien snowboards and teaches at all levels.
The rest of the year Bastien teaches with Patsy on the
dry slope in Scotland and the Summer months of June
and July in France on the Tignes Glacier.
Jimmy
Jimmy Smith was born in Wales and now lives partly in Boat of Garten, Scotland and in Courchevel France.
He came to Edinburgh as a teenager where he spent a many hours at Hillend, an artificial ski slope (the largest in Europe) perfecting his technique and subsequently began ski-ing on snow at Glenshee, a resort in the East of Scotland. Jimmy became so enthused with ski-ing that he decided to become a ski instructor so he sat his B.A.S.I exams which he found no problem passing.
After Jimmy completed all his B.A.S.I grades he became fully qualified with his international licence and went on to become a trainer for several years.
His international licence took him all over the World teaching in places as far away as New Zealand at Mt. Hut. Vancouver in Canada at Mt. Seymour. Beaver Creek in Vail USA and Threadbow in Australia at Perisher Blue he also spent 2 years in Japan. All these teaching jobs he was holding were in a supervisory capacity.
To add to his list he also trained the British Alpine race team from 1981-1984 as head coach.
During the summer months Jimmy runs his own building business in Scotland.
